TOWER Limited has announced the appointment of Steve Boomert as its Chief Executive Officer for the Health and Life operation in New Zealand. He will be based in Auckland.
TOWER Group CEO, Mr Jim Minto, said the appointment of Steve completed the New Zealand senior management team. He joins Pieter Lindhout as CEO General Insurance and Direct, and Tony Hildyard, CEO Investments.
“Steve is a strong addition to the TOWER New Zealand team and will provide leadership and drive to this key part of our business,” he said.
“Steve will bring to TOWER more than 10 years experience in the health and financial services sectors and more than 20 years experience in delivering strategic solutions in marketing, distribution, policy and planning”.
“While having spent much of his working life in Australia, both Steve and his wife are New Zealand born and they are excited at the prospect of returning.”
Mr Minto said the three-person CEO structure in New Zealand would be focussed on building the competitive positions of each of their areas of responsibility and driving TOWER into its next phase of growth.
“These three, plus the two CEO model in place in Australia, is about business line and individual accountability and performance as well as delivering customer service and shareholder value,” he said.
“David Callander is CEO, Risk in Australia.”
Steve Boomert joins TOWER from Medibank Private Ltd, Melbourne, where he has been Group Manager, Strategy and Corporate Development. Prior to joining Medibank Private in 2000, Steve was with the Colonial Group for a number of years.
He holds a Master of Business Administration from Melbourne Business School.
Mr Boomert will take up his new role in early July 2005.
