TOWER Limited has announced the appointment of Pieter Lindhout as Chief Executive Officer, General Insurance and Direct, for its New Zealand operations.
TOWER Group CEO, Mr Jim Minto, said Pieter would be an outstanding addition to the TOWER team in driving the company forward in the New Zealand market.
"Pieter comes to TOWER with an extensive record in the financial services industry both as a business leader and consultant. He has experience with some major corporate entities in both Australia and New Zealand," Mr Minto said.
"As such, he is the ideal person to bring a Trans-Tasman focus to our NZ General Insurance and Direct Risk business as it undergoes change and growth. The risk market in New Zealand overall has a great opportunity for further growth while it also deals with the possibility of higher levels of compliance and consumer driven regulation."
Pieter Lindhout joins TOWER from The Spencer Partnership based in Australia where he has been General Manager for the past two years. The Spencer Partnership specialises in providing consultancy services to the Insurance and Financial Services industries.
Prior to that Pieter was with AMP in both Australia and New Zealand after spending many years in the health insurance industry. He holds a Master of Business from the Sturt University and a Bachelor of Education (Hons) from the University of Sydney.
Mr Minto said Pieter would report directly to him under the structure he implemented when he became Group CEO for TOWER on 1 March 2005.
"The structure involving five business line CEOs reporting to the Group CEO is about focussing on competitive positions in particular markets as well as driving accountability and performance as TOWER moves into its growth phase," Mr Minto said.
Mr Lindhout will take up his new role on 2 May 2005.
