Calculate your contents value, the easy way

Here at Tower, we’ve come up with a solution to calculate your contents sum insured value.

28 June 20222 min read

If you had to name all the contents in your home and the value for each, how do you think you’d go? We don’t often give a second thought to the contents of our homes and it’s only once things are gone that we truly appreciate them – and their value.

That’s why it pays to insure all your contents so they can be replaced if the worst happens. But just how do you figure out how much all of your things are worth? You’ve spent years buying, collecting and being gifted stuff - it’s near impossible to know the original cost.

Sure, you could take a guess. Often, a home’s contents are worth roughly 40% of its total sum insured. Another option is to go through your home room by room, noting the value of each item. It takes a bit of work but could save plenty of heartache later.

Five steps, job done!

Or simply make a cuppa and do it the easy way, thanks to your team at Tower. We’ve partnered with some tech experts to create an online calculator that makes working out the value of your contents a breeze.

In just five simple steps, the calculator estimates your contents sum insured based on the details you provide about your home and the people who live there. You can review a breakdown room by room and make any edits to what you’ve included. You can also add any special items such as cameras, antiques or jewellery.

Give it go – it really is easy, and it will give you more confidence that you have the right sum insured for your contents. And remember, at Tower, we’re always here to help, so if you have a question, get in touch.
