One event, one excess
If one incident means you need to claim on multiple Tower car, house, and contents policies, you’ll only pay one excess. The highest excess applies.

For comprehensive covers we'll repair your car if it's damaged by an uninsured vehicle. For third party fire and theft and third party covers we'll repair your car if you can identify the person at fault and the fault was at least 50% theirs.
If you replace your car or buy a new one, we’ll automatically cover it for 14 days. If you paid more than $125,000 for the car, this benefit doesn’t apply, so please call us to arrange insurance before you purchase the replacement car.
RoadWise® roadside assistance
If your car breaks down, our 24-hour RoadWise service will come to your rescue anywhere across New Zealand. RoadWise covers your car, so it doesn't matter who is driving when the breakdown happens. Add it to your policy today.
What it doesn't cover
Such as breakage or breakdown of any part of the car. You can add our 24-hour roadside assistance service, RoadWise, to your policy so if a break down happens help is just a phone call away.
Using your car outside the terms of your licence
This is important for drivers with restricted and learner licences to bear in mind.
Using your vehicle for business purposes
But if you’re a tradie or on-road sales person our commercial vehicle insurance could be right for you. Just a note, we can’t cover ride sharing, couriers or taxis.

Here are some things you'll need to know to complete your quote:
- Registration number or the make, year and type of your vehicle.
- Accessories and modifications that that were added after manufacturing, such as roof racks, upholstery changes and alarms.
- Details of regular drivers, as well as their driving and claims histories.
Car insurance FAQs
Our Comprehensive car cover customers can choose to insure their car for its market value or an agreed value. These decide how we settle a claim if the vehicle is written off or stolen.
- Market value is the amount your car is worth on the day it's damaged.
- Agreed value is an amount you and your insurer agree to cover your car for. This amount is locked in for a year when your policy renews.
Windscreen and window glass are automatically covered under our Comprehensive and Third party fire & theft policies. If you ever need to make a claim for windscreen damage, just call us on 0800 379 372 and we'll get it sorted.

You can also add our windscreen excess buyout benefit when you take out the policy and you won't pay an excess if you claim, or lose your no-claims bonus.
If you're not completely happy with your cover, just let us know within 15 days of the policy start date.
As long as you haven't made any claims during this time, we'll cancel the policy and refund any premium payments you've made. If the policy was not quite right, we might be able to change it to better suit you.
