Our contents insurance policies
Choose from one of our policies:
Premium cover: Our highest level of cover. If your things are lost, damaged or stolen, we'll replace them with items of equivalent value. You're also covered for up to $10,000 for mobile phones and up to $10,000 for prescription glasses and contact lenses.
Plus cover: More benefits and higher limits than our Standard cover, including up to $5,000 for home office equipment and up to $5,000 for prescription glasses and contact lenses.
Standard cover: Simple, affordable cover for life's essentials. You'll get up to $1,000 for prescription glasses and contact lenses, and $500 to replace a mobile phone.

No. Contents insurance only covers your things while you're travelling within New Zealand. If you're heading overseas, take out a Travel insurance policy with us to make sure you're covered.
Yes, but it depends on the level of cover you choose.
Plus covers home office equipment up to $5,000 at your house.
Premium covers home office equipment up to $10,000 at your house.
This includes office furniture, hardware and purchased software you mainly use at home to earn income.

Don't worry, all of our Contents policies cover mobile phones starting from $500 cover on our Standard policy, up to $10,000 on our Premium policy.
If you want more cover on our Standard policy or Plus policy, just let us know and we'll increase the limit for your phone.
If it needs repairing, we have a network of skilled technicians to take care of it.
Yes. Your prescription glasses, sunglasses, contact lenses, hearing aids, and removable dentures are all covered. If they're lost, stolen or damaged, we'll repair or replace them.
We know how important these items are for your day-to-day life, so we work to get them sorted quickly.
If you have either the Contents Plus policy or Premium policy, you'll pay a reduced excess of $100 for prescription glasses and contact lenses claims. If you have a Standard policy, you'll pay your full excess for each claim.
It can be tricky to know the value of something you've owned for a while. As a guide, think about what it would cost to replace your things today. Not just electronics and jewellery, but clothing, bedding, furniture and kitchenware too.
To estimate the cost, look up similar items at their usual full price. Avoid using sale prices.

No. Damage from daily use, ageing or normal wear and tear isn't covered.
We cover contents that belong to you and your family members who live with you at the same address. Flatmates, boarders or guests will need their own contents policy for their belongings.
Yes. If you're away for a short time, your contents are still covered at home and you don't need to tell us.
If your home is unoccupied for more than 90 consecutive days, your cover is limited from day 91 to loss, damage, or liability caused by:
- a natural hazard
- a fire resulting from a natural hazard
- a fire not caused by a deliberate or intentional act
- a storm or flood caused by weather events.
An extra $1,000 excess applies for claims during this time.

We know pets are part of the family, and sometimes that means chewed cushions or scratched furniture. As much as we love them, our contents insurance doesn't cover any damage caused by pets.
