Comprehensive car insurance FAQs
Comprehensive car insurance is our complete package. It covers you for a wide range of events, like damage to your car, whether it's your fault, someone else's, or caused by things like fire or a natural disaster. You're also covered for your legal liability if you damage another person's car or property.* Get the full breakdown on comprehensive car insurance.
With our comprehensive car insurance, you can insure your car for its market value or an agreed value. These determine how we settle a claim if the vehicle is written off and confirmed a total loss or it's stolen.
- Market value is the amount your car is worth on the day it's damaged or stolen.
- Agreed value is the fixed amount you and your insurer agree to cover your car for. This amount is locked in for a year, giving you certainty about your cover level.
Comprehensive is our highest level of insurance, with a range of benefits like cover for damage caused by natural disasters, fire, and theft. It offers peace of mind knowing that, if something happens, you're covered.* On the other hand, third party is the minimum level of cover you can get, covering damage your car causes to other people's car or property.
Yes, your windscreen and window glass are covered under both our comprehensive and third party, fire and theft policies. You can make a claim for windscreen damage by contacting our repair partner Novus, directly.
You can also add our windscreen excess buyout benefit when you take out a comprehensive or third party, fire and theft policy, and you won't pay an excess if you claim.
Our private car policies cover you for driving to and from work, but don't cover using your car for work or business. Our commercial vehicle insurance may be a better fit for you, especially if you're an on-road salesperson or tradesperson. Our comprehensive commercial vehicle policy covers goods in transit up to $5,000 and signwriting on your vehicle up to $1,000, and other benefits suited for vehicles used for business.*
